Mama Superfoods Sunday Lunch

Sunday was a very exciting day. My friend Danae, the owner of Mama Superfoods hosted a vegan/raw food day at the Kimatothrafsti cafe at Exarheia. Along with the help of Elli she cooked everything the day before from fresh organic ingredients! I actually passed by her house on Saturday evening, and let me tell you her kitchen was a beautiful mess of cacao, coconut, avocados, goji berries, golden berries, maca, quinoa, mushrooms, various nuts, a huge bucket of 25 kilos of flaxseeds, and many other things that I can’t recall!
Everyone was really excited, because this is the first time in Greece that there was ONLY vegan food served at an actual food place! How cool! The turnout, the food and the atmosphere were great, and the only problem was that they started running out of food quite early. But there was still a lot of dessert, smoothies and chocolate tea!

I went there early to take some pictures and waited for my boyfriend to come so we could sit down and eat. I was worried that by the time he’d arrived there wouldn’t be enough food, but thankfully he arrived fast and we only missed one dish [goddamn marinated mushrooms!!]. We had a yummy quinoa dish with raisins in it,  a salad with various veggies and golden berries, steamed vegetables with an awesome tahini dressing, beans, tabouleh, delicious shitake and morel mushroom [ I don't have a picture of that] soup and raw flaxseed crackers.

The desserts were ALL raw. We had an amazing chocolate pudding with banana, an extraordinary cacao mixed berry tart with nut/date crust, chocolate/coconut balls and raw oatmeal cookies!!! We also drunk some delicious chocolate tea-as you can imagine there was no room in our stomachs for any smoothies!

It was a really inspiring day for the Greek vegan/raw community!
