So I found myself with a cool gift they gave me at the supermarket : a popcorn popper! I got excited because I don’t own a microwave and whenever I make popcorn on the stove I always end up burning at least half of it and the pot I use [yes, me...]. So anyway, I thought this popper was a neat gift. You can make fuss-free and fat free popcorn in just a few minutes, without adding anything else. That makes a pretty healthy snack. But adding your own toppings?? Well, that’s where I got a little crazy. I had some sun-dried Dulse seaweed fpr a while, and I didn’t know how to eat it. When I first got it, it was leathery and I ate it like dried fruit. Now it was really dry and crunchy! Also it is naturally salty and very yummy. Yes I just said seaweed is ‘yummy’. I love seaweed.
So anyway, I decided to crumble it on air-popped popcorn and it was actually really good!

Dulse, a seaweed common in Ireland, Iceland, and Canada. It is a highly nutritious food, containing a lot of minerals, vitamins, protein and all of the trace elements we need. That’s a pretty good deal I think!
Another healthy suggestion to top your air popped popcorn : Nutritional yeast [for cheesy flavor].
Ingredients
-70gr corn for popping
-15gr dried dulse
-grapeseed oil spray [ optional, helps seaweed stick on the popcorn]
Just throw the popcorn in the popper, and when its ready spritz with a bit of oil. Crumble the Dulse with your hands and sprinkle it on the popcorn. This makes 2 big servings [you know, for movies!]
Enjoy!

What a cool prize! Popcorn popper.. how very fancy
did you know they put seaweed on popcorn in hawaii? they often will sprinkle on popcorn with a scoop of soy sauce flavored rice crackers on popcorn at the movie theaters. it’s also available for the microwave, called hurricane corn.
when are we going to watch a movie and eat some of this super pop corn???
I like seaweed on popcorn. Sometimes I use japanese furikake (rice seasoning) on popcorn and it turns out wonderfully.
Great idea! Popcorn is definitely ubiquitous in my dorm (okay, just my room) and this sounds like a good way to gourmet-itize it (that’s totally a word)
What a great idea! Sounds like a super yummy snack!
what an imaginative hawain mind this young coconut has
There’s a new popcorn superfood seasoning out that I thought you’d like to know abouot. It has seaweed in it (just like you’ve recommended here), as well as reishi mushroom powder, pine bark extract and a whole bunch of healthy herbs. You can google it with “popcorn superfood.”
